Third-generation Pa. meat purveyor to be employee-owned
Godshall’s Quality Meats of Telford, Pa., is establishing an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
The third-generation company has about 400 employees. It was founded as a butcher shop in 1945 and is best known for its turkey bacon, the article said.
Owners Mark Godshall, Floyd Kratz and Ron Godshall “wanted to be prepared for the future, one in which folks didn’t have to worry about ownership by a competitor or outside investors, freeing them to do what they did best,” company president Mark Godshall told the Inquirer.
