Jonathan Flack
U.S. Family Enterprises and Business leader, PwC
Jonathan Flack, U.S. Family Enterprises and Business leader for PwC, is a lead engageÂment partner to some of the U.S.’s largest family-owned businesses and leverages a strong global network of partners with a similar focus. He also taps external advisors (attorneys, family business counselors, trust advisers) as needed to deliver innovative solutions to multi-generational family businesses. As part of his role in leading the U.S. family business practice for PwC, Jonathan spearheads the strategy, operations, talent development, thought leadership and marketing for the family-owned business sector.
He supports other client teams serving this sector and has published thought leadership and led regional forums on family business issues. Jonathan is also an assurance partner where he has extensive international experience with multibillion-dollar, private clients. He assists clients with business transactions and new products. He started his career in the Carolinas working on large privately held businesses in multiple industries.
Fentress Seagroves, Partner
US Private Company Deals Leader, PwC
Fentress is a Principal in PwC Deals, where he leads the Private Company Services Deals team in the U.S. which focused on providing enhanced transaction services to family businesses, inbound companies and private companies. Over a 24 year career at PwC, he has served as a lead advisor on a range of acquisitions and divestitures across a broad range of industries, with significant experience in middle market transactions.
Fentress received an MBA as valedictorian of his class at the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University and graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law.
John Neretlis
Family Council Chair, Rowntree Enterprises
John Neretlis has spent much of his life involved in various family businesses: as a Next Gen and Now Gen with his family, and as a married-in Next Gen with his wife’s. In addition to running his consultancy for family businesses, John has recently partnered with his teenage son in a new venture Brick Labs Inc.: a LEGO based education and entertainment facility. John chairs his married-in family’s Family Assembly where he directs the G3 training program. John holds an MBA from Queen’s University, is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and is certified as a Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA).
John served as a Captain in the Canadian Forces Medical Services, operated his Family’s retail food stores, was General Manager of a conference centre and was a property and real estate advisor in Toronto. John volunteers on three boards: Rosseau Lake College, where he serves as Vice-Chair; Queen’s University Alma Mater Society and the Queen’s University School of Law Generational Wealth Program Advisory Board.
For the last two years, John has also co-hosted Transitions Canada.
He resides in Toronto, Ontario with his wife Susan, son Matthew (16) and daughter Katie (14).
Barbara Spector
Editor-in-Chief, Family Business Magazine
Barbara Spector, who grew up in a family business, has served on the editorial staff of Family Business since 2000. She has been editor-in-chief since 2004 and became associate publisher in 2011. She has compiled and edited seven volumes of the acclaimed Family Business Handbook series. Previously, she was the managing editor of Jewelers’ Circular Keystone, a trade magazine for the jewelry industry, which is primarily composed of family businesses. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
