CHOOSING THE RIGHT TRUSTEE FOR YOUR FAMILY BUSINESS

Join Tara Bahn, Director of Shareholder Services for the Clemens Food Group (a sixth-generation, billion-dollar family company), who will share her family's experiences, Tom Frank, Executive Vice President and Northern California Regional Manager at Whittier Trust, and Barbara Spector, Family Business Magazine's Editor-in-Chief and Associate Publisher, for an in-depth look at choosing a trustee for your family business.

Choosing the right trustee for your family business can be daunting. It's one of the most important decisions you and your family business will make, so it's crucial to understand the consequences of your decision. Should you opt for a non-family professional who is focused on trust and estate administration?  Or would someone from within the family be a better choice to execute the duties and responsibilities of a trustee?

This webinar will examine:

  • Why an owner may want to put all or part of the family business in a trust
  • Responsibilities and liabilities of a trustee
  • State law issues
  • Potential pitfalls in naming a spouse or child as successor
  • Issues of diminished capacity among trustees

Join Tara Bahn, Director of Shareholder Services for the Clemens Food Group (a sixth-generation, billion-dollar family company), who will share her family's experiences, Tom Frank, Executive Vice President and Northern California Regional Manager at Whittier Trust, and Barbara Spector, Family Business Magazine's Editor-in-Chief and Associate Publisher, for an in-depth look at choosing a trustee for your family business.
