Wesley Fehsenfeld has been named president and CEO of The Uhlmann Company, based in Kansas City, Mo.
The Uhlmann Company, formerly known as the Standard Milling Co., owns flour brands Hecker’s and Ceresota, as well as farmland and commercial real estate.

Fehsenfeld, a married-in fourth-generation member, joined the company in 2011 as a vice president, overseeing the baking flour division. He is a 2008 graduate of the College of Charleston and earned an MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

As CEO, Fehsenfeld will seek to grow the company through acquisitions.

He succeeds his father-in-law, Paul Uhlmann III, who is transitioning to the role of chairman. Paul Uhlmann III is the brother of Caro Uhlmann Rock, Family Business Magazine’s publisher.

Bret Snyder, chair of W.L. Gore & Associates’ board of directors, has taken on the additional roles of president and CEO, effective Oct. 9, 2020.

Snyder, grandson of founders Bill and Vieve Gore, has been chair of the board since 2016. Gore is a global materials science company based in Newark, Del. One of its best-known developments is GORE-TEX fabric technology.
Snyder joined Gore in 2008 in the Core Technology function, developing new materials and working to expand Gore’s material science capabilities. He then joined the PharmBIO business as a new product development engineer and later served as technical leader for the portable electronics venting business.

Prior to joining Gore, Snyder worked at Rohm and Haas, where he developed technology and served as a business and operations leader for the AgroFresh subsidiary. He holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Washington College of Engineering and a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Brown University.

Ed Burns has joined Burns Logistics Solutions Inc. as vice president of relationships. Burns, son of founder and president “Big Ed” Burns, previously ran Melior Marketing for seven years. At Burns Logistics, he will use his experience in digital marketing to create additional value for the client base and continue to grow the business.
Burns Logistics Services, based in Shoemakersville, Pa., is a transportation sales agency focused on shipper-carrier relationships.

Fourth-generation member Will Berry has been named president of Berico Fuels, based in Greensboro, N.C.
Berry received an MBA from Michigan State University in 2007 and then worked in real estate development. Seeking a change, he at first investigated franchise opportunities but was approached by his father, CEO Tom Berry, and partner John Fuquay, the current chairman of the board, about joining Berico. He joined the company in 2011 and bought into the partnership in 2017.

Berico Fuels, founded by W.N. Berry in 1924, started out delivering coal via horse-drawn buggies. Today, the company and its subsidiaries, Alamance Oil and Carolina Fuels, deliver residential heating fuels and propane, commercial fuels and lubricants and provide HVAC service in the Greensboro Triad area.
