James Minich

Managing Director, Capital Advisory Services, BMO Family Office

Jim Minich is a Managing Director with BMO Family Office, an integrated wealth management provider that serves ultra-affluent individuals, families and family offices across their tax, estate, investment, philanthropic, risk and family capital needs.

Jim has over 25 years of experience serving large corporate, middle market, and ultra-affluent clientele. Jim is responsible for overseeing the national Capital Advisory Services practice. He is uniquely positioned to advise ultra-affluent families and individuals on the management and optimization of their financial liabilities. This advice often centers around debt sourcing for both individual and business needs, capital asset financing and the monetization of specialized asset classes.

Jim earned a BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  He also attended DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, Chicago, Illinois, where he graduated with distinction with an MBA in Finance.

Kyle Crowe

Managing Director, Mergers and Acquisitions, BMO Capital Markets

During his extensive career as both an investment banker and a corporate attorney, Kyle Crowe has been deeply involved in all types of M&A services, including sell- and buy-side advisories, corporate divestitures, recapitalizations, strategic investments, defensive advisories and fairness opinions. Prior to joining BMO from Greene Holcomb Fisher, he was a managing director at Piper Jaffray, where he founded and directed the firm’s Technology Mergers and Acquisitions Group. Kyle also practiced corporate law at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings and leveraged buyouts.

Kyle is a graduate of The University of Iowa (BBA, MBA and JD), where he was a member of the University of Iowa’s Big Ten Championship football team and Editor in Chief of the Iowa Law Review.

Robert Harrod

Director, BMO Harris Corporate Advisory

Bob Harrod serves as a Director in BMO Harris’ Corporate Advisory Group.  He has extensive experience in corporate development/M&A, strategy and investment banking.  Bob joined BMO from Adtalem Global Education, where he served as a senior member of the corporate development and strategy team.  Prior to Adtalem, Bob headed up the corporate development/M&A efforts of Fortune Brands Home & Security, and prior to that, for substantial businesses within GE Healthcare and GE Capital.  Prior to GE, he spent over 12 years in investment banking, primarily focused in healthcare, at various firms including Robert W. Baird, Vector Securities and Credit Suisse. 

Bob earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a BS in Finance and Management from the University of Virginia.

Barbara Spector

Editor-in-Chief, Family Business Magazine

Barbara Spector, who grew up in a family business, has served on the editorial staff of Family Business since 2000. She has been editor-in-chief since 2004 and became associate publisher in 2011. She has compiled and edited seven volumes of the acclaimed Family Business Handbook series. Previously, she was the managing editor of Jewelers' Circular Keystone, a trade magazine for the jewelry industry, which is primarily composed of family businesses. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
