Brian Roberts relinquishes 2.3% of his Comcast stock
Brian Roberts, chairman, CEO and president of Comcast Corp., recently sold $11.41 million in Comcast stock and donated another $1.38 million in the company's stock to the University of Pennsylvania, according to a Philadelphia Business Journal blog post.
In total, Roberts relinquished 2.3% of his stake in the company. It was his first stock sale since 2007 and according to a Comcast spokesperson was part of a personal financial plan, the report noted. The donation to the university went toward a $15 million pledge that he and his father, Comcast co-founder Ralph Roberts, made in 2006 to create a center for cancer treatment, the blog post said.
Brian Roberts sold 91,539 shares of Comcast's Class A common stock and 533,641 shares of Comcast Class A Special common stock, and donated 76,500 shares of the special common stock to the university. According to the report, he is left with 3.93 million shares of Comcast Class A common stock and 15.79 million shares of Comcast Class A Special common stock.
The report said he also owns more than 9.44 million shares of super-voting Class B common stock. (Source: Philadelphia Business Journal, Aug. 12, 2010.)
